ITLA and UASD partner to expand STEM and AI education
The Instituto Tecnológico de las Américas (ITLA) and the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) have launched a joint initiative to expand technological education in the Dominican Republic. The partnership focuses on strengthening training in STEM disciplines, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity to meet the demands of the knowledge economy.
ITLA Rector Jimmy Rosario Bernard emphasized the goal of democratizing technological education, aiming to provide specialized training to a broader range of citizens, including professionals in fields such as law and medicine, to enhance their existing work through AI. The collaboration also includes the expansion of the 2+2 academic model to facilitate continuity for technical graduates.
Separately, UASD Rector Jorge Asjana David reaffirmed his commitment to university teaching, noting that he continues to instruct courses in surgical semiology and head and neck anatomy despite his administrative responsibilities.
ITLA has reported significant success in labor market integration, claiming a 92% employment rate for its graduates. The institution has recently expanded its curriculum to include programs in semiconductors, microelectronics, and digital animation.
