ITV drama Adultery premieres starring Romola Garai and Dominic Cooper

The six-part ITV drama Adultery, written by Danny Brocklehurst, has premiered on ITV1 and is available for streaming on ITVX. The series follows the intense and scandalous affair between Beth Brookes, a fitness trainer played by Romola Garai, and Tom Kirkman, a GP played by Dominic Cooper.

The narrative explores themes of grief, class inequality, and personal dissatisfaction. Beth is navigating the recent death of her closest friend, while the two protagonists find themselves drawn to one another despite being married with families. The situation is further complicated by the fact that their teenage children are also in a relationship.

Garai and Cooper have noted the complexity of the subject matter, with the show examining the psychological motivations behind infidelity and the potential for passion to uproot established lives.
