ITV releases first look at political drama ‘The Party’ starring Luke Evans

ITV has released first-look images and a trailer for its upcoming five-part political drama, ‘The Party’. Based on the novel by Elizabeth Day, the series stars Luke Evans as Martin Gilmour, a journalist whose life has been deeply influenced by his lifelong friendship with Ben Fitzmaurice, a wealthy and charismatic politician played by Tom Cullen.

The narrative follows the bond between Martin, who rose from a working-class background via an elite boarding school scholarship, and Ben. The story unfolds across two timelines, moving between the present-day events of a lavish birthday party at the Fitzmaurice estate and a police investigation, as well as flashbacks to their shared history at school, university, and in London.

The plot intensifies when the resignation of the Conservative leader threatens to derail Ben’s birthday celebration, as Ben considers announcing his own intention to stand for leadership. Martin fears that the resulting publicity could expose secrets from their past with tragic consequences. The series is created by showrunner Sarah Solemani and produced by World Productions.
