ITV releases political thriller drama The Party

ITV is releasing a new five-part political thriller titled ‘The Party’, adapted from Elizabeth Day’s bestselling novel and written by Sarah Solemani. The drama stars Luke Evans as Martin Gilmour and Tom Cullen as Ben Fitzmaurice.

The plot follows the relationship between Gilmour, a working-class man who attended an elite boarding school on scholarship, and Fitzmaurice, a wealthy and charismatic figure. Decades after their initial bond formed, Gilmour attends a lavish birthday celebration for Fitzmaurice, who is considering a run for Conservative leadership. The narrative explores the tension of potential secrets from their past being exposed, moving between the party, a police investigation, and flashbacks.

The series features a supporting cast including Joanna Scanlan, Lydia Leonard, Lindsay Duncan, and Douglas Hodge.
