ITV secures exclusive UK broadcast rights for Rugby World Cup 2027

ITV has been confirmed as the exclusive UK broadcaster for the men’s Rugby World Cup 2027, which will be staged in Australia from 1 October to 13 November 2027. All 52 matches will be shown live and free‑to‑air across ITV, ITVX and the ITV Sport YouTube channel, continuing the broadcaster’s partnership with World Rugby that dates back to the 1991 tournament.

World Rugby and ITV highlighted that the 2027 edition will be the first to feature 24 teams, a new round of 16 and seven Australian host cities, making it the largest World Cup in the sport’s history. Niall Sloane, ITV’s Director of Sport, described the deal as “monumental” for UK audiences, while World Rugby CEO Alan Gilpin said it will help inspire fans across the United Kingdom.

The tournament will open with hosts Australia playing Hong Kong at Perth Stadium on 1 October 2027.
