IU donates 200 million won to mark 18th debut anniversary

To mark her 18th debut anniversary, South Korean singer and actress IU has donated a total of 200 million won (approximately $144,000) in the name of her fan club, UAENA.

The contribution was split equally, with 50 million won each directed to the Social Welfare Society, Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, the Heart-Heart Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity Korea. The funds are designated to support young adults transitioning out of institutional care, provide rehabilitation for children facing financial difficulties, assist with the education and mental health of young women, and improve residential environments for national veterans.

Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, released a message from IU expressing gratitude to her fans, stating, “Just like the hearts of UAENA, who were willing to offer their side even when we were strangers to one another, I hope that the gentle moments in our daily lives become a little more frequent.” This follows a pattern of consistent philanthropy by the artist on birthdays and other special occasions.
