Iuliu Maniu history contest honors Romanian students

The national phase of the ‘Vreau să fiu ca Iuliu Maniu’ history competition took place in Bădăcin on August 22, 2026. The event, dedicated to the life and values of the Romanian political figure Iuliu Maniu, was organized by the Taloșiu Association in collaboration with the Iuliu Maniu–Ion Mihalache Foundation and the Iuliu Maniu Memorial House Association.

Participants from Bistrița-Năsăud achieved notable success, with sisters Andreea Denisa Coptil and Lavinia Melisa Coptil, graduates of the ‘Ion Căian Românul’ Technological High School in Căianu Mic, securing second and third place respectively. Other participants from the region, including Emanuel Măluțan and Maria Trifan, also received honorable mentions. The competition brought together students from various regions of Romania to study national history through the lens of Maniu’s commitment to democracy and freedom.
