Iustitia Europa to contest Spanish general elections
Iustitia Europa, a group traditionally known for acting as a popular prosecution in major corruption cases, has announced its candidacy for the upcoming Spanish general elections. The party has selected lawyer Luis María Pardo as its candidate for the Presidency of the Government.
Pardo, who has been involved in legal proceedings such as the investigation into Begoña Gómez and cases involving Ceuta, advocates for a deep transformation of the political system. His platform focuses on combating corruption and 'depoliticizing' institutions. Key proposals include the abolition of political privileges and immunities (aforamientos), the removal of public subsidies for political parties, and a limit of two legislative terms for any public official throughout their lifetime.
Additionally, the party seeks constitutional reforms to allow for direct citizen participation through referendums and a restructuring of the General Council of the Judiciary to ensure judges and prosecutors elect the majority of its members, rather than relying on political party agreements.
