Živa Remic wins World U20 800m title
Slovenian athlete Živa Remic has achieved historic success at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, USA, becoming the first Slovenian woman to win the world title in the U20 category. The 16-year-old, representing AK Olimpija, secured the gold medal in the 800 meters.
Her coach, Gregor Grad, noted that her preparation was highly structured, focusing on peaking for the U20 championships following her European U18 championship victory in Rieti earlier this year. Grad emphasized that while Remic possesses immense natural talent, her success is also driven by her work ethic and dedication. He stated that there is still significant room for improvement in both her speed and endurance as they focus on long-term development.
Following her intense competition schedule, Remic plans to take a break to spend time with friends and family before the start of the school year.
