Iva Zanicchi to star in comedy “Viva la Mamma!”

The comedy “Viva la Mamma!” is set to debut, starring Iva Zanicchi alongside Milena Miconi, Samuel Peron, and Diego Ruiz. Written and directed by Ruiz, the play explores themes of elderly loneliness and the right of mature women to pursue happiness outside of traditional domestic stereotypes.

The plot centers on a family Christmas lunch that is disrupted when the mother, Michela, reveals she has started a relationship with a much younger man. This revelation leads to a series of comedic misunderstandings and family tensions.

Produced by Giuseppe Magagnini for Carpe Diem Produzioni in co-production with C.T.M. Centro Teatrale Meridionale, the production will embark on an extensive tour. Starting in November 2026, the tour includes stops at the Teatro Goldoni in Corinaldo, Teatro Alfieri in Turin, Teatro Manzoni in Rome, and over 50 other dates across Italy and Switzerland through January 31, 2027.
