Ivan Cleary to coach 500th NRL game
Penrith Panthers head coach Ivan Cleary is set to coach his 500th NRL game this Thursday. He becomes only the seventh coach in league history to reach this milestone.
Cleary, who has led the Panthers to four consecutive premierships, expressed modesty regarding the achievement, stating that while it is a surprise, his primary focus remains on team performance. He noted that he feels privileged to remain in his position and credited the support of players, staff, and administrators for his longevity in the role.
Cleary previously announced that he will conclude his tenure as Penrith coach at the end of the 2027 season, at which point assistant Peter Wallace is expected to take over.
