Ivan Gudelj, former Hajduk Split football legend, passes away

Former Hajduk Split football legend Ivan Gudelj has passed away at the age of 66. His death has drawn widespread tributes from former teammates, family, and the sporting community.

During his funeral, various generations of Hajduk players, friends, and relatives gathered to honor his legacy. Split Mayor Tomislav Šuta praised Gudelj as a captain whose name defined generations of Hajduk supporters, noting his lifelong commitment to football and culture. The event was also attended by representatives from the Mundijal prijateljstva, led by Pavle Pepđonović, who highlighted Gudelj’s role in fostering friendship and respect.

Gudelj’s daughter, Đana Jelčić, shared an emotional tribute on social media, reflecting on her father’s strength as a fighter and his role as a life role model. Former teammates also recalled his early days in Hajduk’s youth categories, describing him as a dedicated and persistent player whose career was prematurely impacted by illness.
