Ivan Korčok financing controversy sparks criticism in Slovak parliament

Progressive Slovakia deputy chair Ivan Korčok faces renewed scrutiny over payments received through his wife’s company, EUSTRA s.r.o. The party confirmed that EUSTRA was paid almost €68,000 for work such as regional trips, program preparation and car rental, while the company’s accounts also show a prior €194,000 payment predating Korčok’s presidential campaign. Korčok says the remuneration matched a parliamentary salary and promises to switch to a personal business arrangement.

Opposition MP Luboš Blaha of Smer‑SSD accused liberal media of ignoring the financing issue, claiming they focus on other topics while omitting any mention of Korčok. Smer‑SSD MP Ján Mažgút also raised questions about the source of the €194,000 and the mandate for Korčok’s European trips, urging equal transparency standards for both coalition and opposition parties.
