Ivan Korčok scrutinized for €70,000 payments through wife's company

Ivan Korčok, deputy chairman of the opposition party Progressive Slovakia (PS), confirmed that he receives a regular remuneration equal to a parliamentary salary for his work in the party. The payment is made through a limited company owned and managed by his wife, a practice the party says complies with the law. Documents obtained by media show that PS paid the firm almost €70,000 during the previous year.

Opposition MP Ján Mažgút of Smer raised questions about the use of public funds for Korčok’s domestic and foreign trips, noting that the party’s annual reports do not explain how the €68‑70 thousand paid to the firm were spent. He also pointed to a separate supplier, EUSTRA s.r.o., which received a similar amount from PS. Korčok responded that the company he founded with his wife is now inactive and that he will soon create a personal freelance activity to receive party remuneration directly, aiming to improve transparency.

The controversy centers on the transparency of party financing and the legality of routing payments through a family‑owned company.
