Persija vs Persib: Security tightened for El Clasico at GBK

Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung are set to face each other in the ‘El Clasico Indonesia’ during the second week of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium on Saturday, September 12.

Due to the high-risk nature of the rivalry, authorities have implemented strict security measures. Approximately 17,800 joint personnel from the military, police, and local government will be deployed. To prevent mass mobilization and potential conflict, police have established blockades at key border points, including Tangerang, Karawang, and Bogor.

Under current regulations and crowd permits, visiting supporters—specifically Persib’s Bobotoh—are prohibited from attending the match at GBK. PSSI and Persib officials have urged fans to watch from home or at local public viewing events to maintain order. PSSI has also proposed peace-building initiatives, such as a meeting between The Jakmania and Bobotoh supporters, to foster a more positive atmosphere.

On the pitch, Persija enters the match with high confidence following a win against Borneo FC, while Persib aims to secure three points to satisfy their supporters. The match marks the return of this classic rivalry to Jakarta after a seven-year absence from the GBK stadium.
