Ivan Radosevic discusses the importance of feedback competence

Management expert Ivan Radosevic highlights the critical role of feedback competence in shaping corporate culture. He notes that the ability of leaders to provide and receive constructive criticism is essential for building trust, motivation, and employee retention.

Data from the Gallup Engagement Index Germany reveals a significant gap in effective communication: only about one in ten employees reported receiving truly helpful feedback in the past week. Furthermore, only approximately one-third of employees in Germany stated that their managers focus on their strengths.

Radosevic observes that leadership failures in this area often stem from a lack of competence rather than a lack of will. Common issues include providing too little feedback due to time constraints or uncertainty, or delivering feedback that is too vague to be actionable. Such deficiencies leave employees uncertain of their standing, which negatively impacts long-term motivation and performance.
