Ivan Shishkov calls for planning-led infrastructure and announces Varna probe

Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Ivan Shishkov, has emphasized that infrastructure investments must be driven by strategic planning and general urban plans rather than the reverse. Speaking at an annual meeting of local authorities in Albena, Shishkov stated that proper planning is essential to address missing infrastructure and ensure that every euro invested contributes to regional development.

Shishkov highlighted the need for improved communication and synchronization between central and local administrations to ensure laws are applied consistently across the country. He also noted the importance of supporting municipalities through investment programs to complete existing projects.

Additionally, the Minister announced that the State Agency for National Security (DANSK) has launched an investigation into the Varna Municipality. The probe will examine all construction permits issued by the municipality over the past four years to address concerns regarding illegal construction.
