Ivan Shishkov demands transparency for Sunny Beach shareholders
Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development, Ivan Shishkov, has called for full transparency regarding the shareholders of the company managing the infrastructure in the Sunny Beach resort. During a meeting with tourism industry representatives and Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov, Shishkov criticized long-standing issues that he claims have demotivated hotel investors and hindered the region's prosperity.
Shishkov described the current management situation as illegal and characterized certain entities as “parasites” that do not contribute to development but instead drain taxpayer money. He proposed that the resort's infrastructure be transferred to the Nessebar Municipality and the water utility network be transferred to the appropriate water company.
While Shishkov has offered the current management the option to transfer these assets voluntarily, he warned that if they do not comply, the government will find other legal means to ensure the infrastructure is managed correctly. The discussions are part of a series titled “Resorts and Infrastructure” aimed at improving cooperation between state structures, local government, and the business sector.
