Ivan Toney to face trial in 2028 over alleged London nightclub assault

England striker Ivan Toney has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an incident at a Soho nightclub in December 2025. Appearing at Southwark Crown Court in London, the 30-year-old Al-Ahli forward is accused of headbutting and punching Saber Da Silva during a confrontation on Wardour Street.

Judge Christopher Hehir set a provisional trial date for June 12, 2028, citing a massive backlog and significant pressure within the Crown Court system. The judge expressed regret over the lengthy delay, which places the trial during the group stages of UEFA Euro 2028.

Toney, who represented England at the 2026 World Cup, was released on unconditional bail. His legal team maintains his innocence, with spokespeople stating he looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name. The incident was investigated by the Metropolitan Police, leading to formal charges in July 2026.
