Ivan Turudić faces criticism over judicial impartiality and investigations
Croatian political figures are raising concerns regarding the impartiality and effectiveness of State Attorney Ivan Turudić. Member of Parliament Dalija Orešković has accused Turudić of protecting high-ranking officials from the HDZ party. She claims that for 14 months, the State Attorney's Office (USKOK) has denied whistleblower Maja Đerek access to decisions regarding the dismissal of criminal complaints against several individuals close to Prime Minister Plenković.
Separately, Nikola Grmoja, President of the Parliamentary Judiciary Committee, has called for a broader investigation into an illegal waste disposal case in Lika. Grmoja argued that the investigation should extend beyond low-level operatives to include major industry players such as Petar Pripuz and Paško Dodić, suggesting that a system of this scale could not have operated for years without involvement from significant actors in the waste management sector.
