Živan Đurić builds monastery in Brčko District as family legacy

In the village of Stjepkovica near Gornja Skakava in the Brčko District, Živan Đurić is constructing a large monastery complex as a spiritual legacy following the sudden death of his only son, Mihael.

Originally, the family intended to develop the land for agricultural business, including organic juice production and spring water bottling. After Mihael's passing, Đurić decided to dedicate the estate to the Serbian Orthodox Church. With the blessing of Metropolitan Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Đurić has been purchasing surrounding plots and transferring ownership directly to the Church.

The project, which currently includes a metoh covering over six hectares, aims to create a spiritual site where Đurić and his family can eventually be laid to rest. The architecture is designed to blend various Orthodox styles into a cohesive complex including two residential buildings.
