Ivana Alawi calls for flood control accountability amid gambling controversy

Actress and vlogger Ivana Alawi has called for accountability regarding alleged corruption in flood control projects following severe flooding in Luzon and Metro Manila. While distributing relief goods to affected communities in Pampanga, Alawi urged the public not to let their attention be diverted from critical issues, questioning the use of billions in flood control funds.

Alawi’s statements come amid controversy involving an unauthorized online gambling promotion. The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) recently fined an online gaming firm P1 million for a promotional campaign featuring Alawi’s giveaway of 100 iPhones, which lacked required government permits.

In response to allegations that she initiated a smear campaign against Kamanggagawa Party-list Rep. Elijah Fernando, Fernando clarified during a House hearing that his remarks were directed at the general promotion of online gambling via influencers rather than at Alawi personally or her charitable efforts.
