Ivanhoe Electric receives $1.1 billion potential US EXIM financing letter
Ivanhoe Electric has received a Preliminary Project Letter from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (US EXIM) for up to $1.1 billion in potential debt financing. This funding is intended for the advanced-stage Santa Cruz Copper Project in Arizona. The potential amount has increased from a previous $825 million indicated in an April 2025 Letter of Interest. While the letter is a key milestone in the financing process, it is not a binding commitment; final consideration by the US EXIM Board is expected in spring 2027.
In separate financial news, Scotiabank has lowered its FY2027 earnings per share estimates for Ivanhoe Electric to ($0.48), down from a previous estimate of ($0.22). Additionally, JPMorgan Chase & Co. reduced its price objective for the company from $21.00 to $20.00, though it maintains an “overweight” rating. The company’s market capitalization currently stands at $1.80 billion.
