Biograd na Moru authorities criticized after cow carcass left for eight days

A dead cow remained in a field near Biograd na Moru for eight days while its calf circled the carcass, sparking outrage over the lack of response from local and national authorities. Local resident Dragan Vukoja reported that despite repeated calls to the police, municipal services, and the state inspectorate, no action was taken to remove the carcass or secure the calf.

The situation drew criticism from Minister of Agriculture David Vlajčić, who stated that the incident shows a failure in the system. Following media coverage, the calf was rescued, and the company Agroproteinka is expected to remove the carcass. The incident has raised concerns regarding public health and potential disease risks due to the decomposing animal in close proximity to agricultural crops.
