Ivanka Ilić, a long-time editor in the School Editorial Department of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. A graduate biologist, Ilić began her work with the School Editorial Department in 1979.

She was instrumental in producing several significant nature series, including the pioneering ‘Životne zajednice’ (Life Communities) and the ambitious ‘Priroda Jugoslavije’ (Nature of Yugoslavia). These programs were modeled after high-quality international productions and aimed to educate viewers on local biodiversity and the importance of environmental conservation.

Biologist and ornithologist Dr. Voislav Vasić noted that her work may have contributed to the designation of various filming locations as protected areas. Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Monday, October 26, at 13:30.
