Ivanna Ortiz charged in attempted murder shooting at Rihanna's home
Ivanna Ortiz, 36, is facing charges of attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic weapon, and shooting at an inhabited dwelling following an incident at the Los Angeles home of singer Rihanna.
According to police reports, Ortiz used an AR-15 rifle to fire at least ten shots at the front gate of the residence in March. At the time, Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were inside an Airstream trailer in the driveway. Rihanna reported seeing bullet holes in the glass after the gunfire, noting that the double-paned windshield likely prevented injury.
Ortiz has pleaded not guilty. She has been in custody for six months undergoing mental health evaluations to determine her competency to stand trial. Relatives and former acquaintances have described a decline in her mental health following a car accident and personal struggles regarding custody of her daughter.
