Cisco and Ivanti face active zero-day exploits in security infrastructure
Major cybersecurity vulnerabilities have been identified in critical networking and security infrastructure from Cisco and Ivanti.
Cisco has reported active exploitation of a zero-day vulnerability in its Secure Email Gateway (CVE-2026-76519). The flaw, which carries a CVSS score of 9.8, allows unauthenticated remote attackers to write arbitrary files and execute commands with root privileges by sending a specially crafted email attachment. The vulnerability specifically affects devices where the Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) File Reputation service is enabled and Content Scanner Tools are older than version 25.3.0.5525. CISA has added this to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog and set a deadline for federal agencies to patch.
Separately, Ivanti Connect Secure (ICS) is facing exploitation involving a chain of three zero-day vulnerabilities. The primary flaw, CVE-2026-104935, has a CVSS score of 8.6 and enables unauthenticated attackers to bypass authentication and execute arbitrary commands. Security firm Volexity identified a threat actor, UTA0576, using these vulnerabilities to target credentials, Active Directory data, and BitLocker recovery keys. While Ivanti has released patches for two of the three vulnerabilities in the chain, a fix for the third remains pending.
