Ivar Stenberg ranked as top NHL prospect by Sportsnet

Swedish hockey prospect Ivar Stenberg has been ranked as the top talent in the NHL by Sportsnet. The 18-year-old, who recently signed his first rookie contract with the San Jose Sharks after leaving Frölunda HC, has made a significant impact during the preseason.

Following an impressive hattrick in his second preseason game, Stenberg topped Sportsnet’s annual ranking of the 23 best players under the age of 23 who have not yet played an NHL game. This ranking places him ahead of Gavin McKenna, who was selected first in the draft. Stenberg is noted for his balance of defensive skill and offensive production, having recorded 11 goals and 33 points during a highly productive season in the SHL.
