Ivaylo Mirchev criticizes Bulgarian government over corruption and fuel prices

Ivaylo Mirchev, co-chairman of the 'Da, Bulgaria' political formation, has issued sharp criticisms against the Bulgarian government and state institutions. Mirchev claims that the alleged dismantling of the 'Borisov-Peevski' political model has reached a 'zero degree' of progress, arguing there is a significant gap between political declarations and actual actions. He suggested that if the government were serious about breaking these dependencies, the National Revenue Agency would have already taken action against Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski.

Mirchev also addressed rising fuel costs, noting that when excise duties and VAT are removed, diesel and gasoline prices in Bulgaria are comparable to or higher than the European average. He raised concerns regarding the Lukoil Neftohim Burgas refinery, stating that it is purchasing Iraqi crude oil through Turkey at prices nearly 10% above Brent market quotations. He questioned the role of the state and specific managers in this price inflation and suggested potential links to business networks associated with Delyan Peevski.

To alleviate the burden on households and businesses, 'Da, Bulgaria' has proposed an immediate state compensation of 20 euro cents per liter of regular gasoline and diesel.
