Venezuela advances scientific, agricultural, and fishing sector initiatives

Venezuela is implementing various initiatives across science, agriculture, and industry. The first Venezuelan Nanotechnology Olympics concluded with 100 finalists selected from nearly 4,000 participants to promote scientific talent among youth.

In the agricultural sector, the Society of Venezuelan Agronomists (Sviaa) has issued a technical alert regarding the ‘Super Niño’ climate phenomenon, warning of severe drought that could impact crops like rice, beans, and sunflowers. To address environmental health, the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) is standardizing methods to measure nitrates in soil and water to monitor damage from agrochemicals. Additionally, Bolpriaven and the Ministry of Agriculture have launched an educational alliance to train personnel in agricultural market operations.

In Delta Amacuro, the government has provided credits, outboard motors, and freezing systems to fishing communities, while also inaugurating a new regional headquarters for the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
