Ivica Dačić announces presidential candidacy and SPS election platform

Ivica Dačić, leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), has announced his candidacy for the Serbian presidency during a major pre-election rally in Belgrade. Running under the coalition slogan ‘Ivica Dačić – Factor of Stability!’, the SPS and its partners are preparing for the upcoming elections on October 25.

During his address, Dačić expressed support for labor law provisions that were in effect during the Slobodan Milošević era in the 1990s. He also emphasized that the SPS remains a vital institution for national stability and social justice. His announcement has sparked debate regarding his political alignment and whether he has the support of President Aleksandar Vučić.

In separate news, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that a long-running wildfire on Suva Planina, which began on September 4, has finally been extinguished. The operation involved over 1,000 people and 489 vehicles. Officials reported that no lives were lost and no buildings were destroyed despite the difficult terrain.
