Ivica Todorić Faces Confirmed Charges in Agrokor Fraud Case
Croatian courts have confirmed the indictment against former Agrokor owner Ivica Todorić and auditor Olivio Discordija for falsifying the company's financial statements, causing an estimated loss of more than €179 million. The non‑party hearing also noted that former Agrokor auditor Sanja Hrstić pleaded guilty to aiding the abuse of trust and to document forgery; she received a nine‑month custodial sentence suspended for four years and was ordered to pay €10 000 in court costs.
Most of the original fifteen defendants have already been sentenced after plea agreements, reducing the current case to six co‑accused. Health concerns may delay proceedings against Discordija, while the trial will focus primarily on Todorić. The court will soon appoint a judge to lead the main hearing.
The Agrokor scandal, spanning several years, involved illegal dividend payments and manipulated financial expertise worth around €1 million, which the prosecution ruled illegitimate. The confirmed indictment marks a significant step in holding senior figures accountable for the collapse that affected Croatia’s retail sector and its creditors.
