Živinice families to receive new social housing keys

On Monday, September 21, 24 families in Živinice will receive keys to new social housing units in the Karaula neighborhood. The project aims to transition residents from collective centers and alternative accommodations into permanent, non-profit social housing.

The construction was completed as part of the CEB II project, “Closing collective centers and alternative accommodation through public housing solutions.” The total value of this specific sub-project is approximately 2.2 million KM (excluding VAT), funded by 2.08 million KM from the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and 129,000 KM from the City of Živinice.

The broader CEB II initiative seeks to close 104 identified collective accommodation sites across Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing 2,030 housing units through 68 sub-projects in 46 municipalities. This effort is intended to close all collective centers in Republika Srpska and over 76 percent of those in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Implementation in the Federation is managed by the Federal Ministry for Displaced Persons and Refugees in cooperation with local authorities, with technical assistance supported by the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) and donors including Norway, Spain, Italy, and Slovakia.
