Iván Romeo targets European Time Trial title after strong road race finish
Spanish cyclist Iván Romeo is preparing for the 2026 European Time Trial Championships following a strong performance in the European road race in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Romeo secured fifth place in the road race, finishing just over a minute behind winner Remco Evenepoel. After originally being slated to support teammate Juan Ayuso, Romeo took the opportunity to race individually after Ayuso withdrew due to health issues.
The upcoming time trial presents a significant opportunity for the Movistar Team rider, as several top contenders, including Remco Evenepoel and Filippo Ganna, are not participating in the event. Romeo will compete on a 22-kilometer course against a field that includes rising talents such as Britain’s Callum Thornley.
