Iván Villacorta detained after hitting elderly man in Trujillo

Iván Villacorta, lead singer of the cumbia group Los Villacorta, was detained in Trujillo following a traffic accident involving a 77-year-old Russian citizen, Aleksandr Rusbalakhnin. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 15, at the intersection of El Ejército Avenue and Mantaro Street in the El Molino neighborhood.

Mr. Rusbalakhnin sustained a leg fracture and was transported to a private clinic, where he remains stable. Villacorta issued a public statement expressing deep regret, stating, “It was never my intention to cause harm to anyone.” The singer has reportedly taken responsibility for the victim's medical expenses.

Authorities from the La Noria police station are investigating the circumstances of the crash. While witnesses alleged that the musician appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, officials are awaiting the results of a breathalyzer test to confirm whether alcohol was involved in the incident.
