Ivo Andrić commemorations held in Travnik and Višegrad

Various cultural institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina are holding events to commemorate the life and work of Nobel Prize-winning author Ivo Andrić.

In Travnik, the “Andrić's Days” manifestation is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This year's program coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Travnik City Library and the 65th anniversary of Andrić receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature. The month-long event includes book presentations, such as “Lexicon of Andrić's Sarajevo” by Borjan Mitrović, literary evenings, and eight theatrical performances at the Croatian Theater Travnik. The festivities will conclude on November 7 with the presentation of a literary award.

In Višegrad, the Cultural Center “Ivo Andrić” organized a program to mark the 134th anniversary of the author's birth. The commemoration included lectures on Andrić's diplomatic career, which spanned several European countries, and an exhibition titled “Faces of Andrić's Childhood.” While Andrić was born in Travnik, he spent much of his formative years in Višegrad, a city that continues to honor his literary legacy.
