Ivo Hristov discusses social tension and EU stability

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov stated that Bulgaria does not face the same conditions for social tension currently observed in France. He noted that while Bulgaria has its own social issues, it lacks the specific drivers seen in France, such as large-scale ghettoization, linguistic fragmentation, and comparable drug-related problems.

Hristov highlighted that Bulgaria maintains greater financial stability compared to France. However, he expressed concerns regarding the future of the European Union, questioning whether the bloc can survive in its current form amidst ongoing turbulence. He warned that Bulgaria must prepare for various scenarios, including the potential loss of current EU funding and the possibility of uncontrolled migration driven by instability in the Middle East.

Regarding foreign policy, Hristov emphasized the need for realism, advocating for positions that oppose war and prevent escalation. He also referenced French President Emmanuel Macron's role as a primary supporter of Ukraine in Western Europe.
