Ivona Aleksić appointed director of Tatomir Anđelić school

Ivona Aleksić, a doctor of philological sciences, has taken over as the new director of the Tatomir Anđelić Elementary School in Mrčajevci. Her appointment follows a reported incident of sexual harassment and peer violence involving a student that occurred in June.

Upon assuming her role, Aleksić announced several measures aimed at stabilizing the school environment and ensuring student safety. These include reorganizing the specific classroom affected by the incident, appointing a new class teacher, and adjusting the work organization. The school is also implementing protection plans and enhanced educational work for students requiring additional support, with some students receiving adapted instruction methods.

A dedicated school team for the protection against discrimination, violence, abuse, and neglect is monitoring the implementation of these measures through regular discussions with students and parents. Aleksić emphasized that while the school is responsible for protection and educational measures, it does not conduct criminal investigations or determine legal liability, tasks which remain with the relevant authorities.
