Ivone Silva wins women's junior world paragliding title
Ivone Silva, an athlete from Madeira, has won the women's junior world title at the 2nd Paragliding Junior World Championship held in Krushevo, North Macedonia. Silva finished the competition in first place in the women's classification with 2,778.9 points, securing a 135.8-point lead over the runner-up, Kanan Thakur of the United Kingdom.
In the overall classification, which includes both male and female athletes, Silva placed 25th. This victory follows her recent win at the Portuguese Women's Championship in Montalegre. Despite practicing paragliding for seven years, Silva only began competing internationally in 2024, participating in events in Spain and Colombia before her success in Macedonia.
