Ivory Coast deploys 100 agents to combat market price manipulation

The Ivorian Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Craftsmanship has trained approximately 100 control agents to strengthen market surveillance and combat unfair commercial practices. The training took place on September 9 and 10 at the Abidjan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The initiative aims to address rising issues such as price manipulation, illegal agreements between traders, and abusive sales conditions. According to the Competition Commission, many of these restrictive practices persist due to a lack of knowledge regarding current regulations.

The newly trained personnel will focus on enforcing price display rules, managing commercial disputes, and detecting anti-competitive methods. This deployment represents a significant increase in active personnel dedicated to market oversight across the country.
