Ivory Coast ends Ecuador's 19‑match goalless streak with 1‑0 win

Ivory Coast defeated Ecuador 1‑0 in the opening match of Group E at the FIFA World Cup hosted in Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field. The match, attended by 68,274 spectators and refereed by François Letexier of France, remained tightly contested until the final minute when substitute Amad Diallo scored from 14 metres, breaking Ecuador’s 19‑game goalless run in the tournament.
