Ivory Coast knocked out of 2026 World Cup by Norway
Ivory Coast's debut in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup ended with a 2‑1 loss to Norway in the Round of 32. Norway took the lead in the 39th minute through Antonio Nusa, but Amad Diallo equalised in the 74th minute after coming on as a substitute. Erling Haaland secured the win with a decisive goal in the 86th minute, sending Norway to the last 16 where they will meet Brazil.
Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Fae said his young side lacked the maturity to protect the draw in the closing minutes, though he praised their progress and the experience gained from the tournament. The defeat marked the end of the Elephants' first ever World Cup knockout appearance.
