IWA Fest concludes fifth edition in Melilla

The fifth edition of IWA Fest has concluded in Melilla, centered around the theme ‘Connecting Europe & Africa’. The festival utilized various locations, including the Fuerte de Victoria Grande, the Batería Real, and UNED, to host a week of musical, cinematic, and conversational programming.

The main concert nights at the Fuerte de Victoria Grande drew approximately 3,000 attendees. The musical lineup featured a diverse range of genres, including North African electronic music by Ammar 808, Irish avant-garde by Cushla, Anatolian psychedelia by Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, and Tuareg rock by Tamikrest.

Beyond music, the festival included film screenings such as ‘Ciudad sin sueño’ and ‘Rough Sahara’, alongside discussions on identity, memory, and territory. For the first time, Radio 3 participated in the event with a dedicated program to broadcast the festival's conversations beyond Melilla.
