IWC Schaffhausen releases limited editions for Ingenieur SL 50th anniversary
IWC Schaffhausen is releasing two limited edition timepieces to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Ingenieur SL, originally designed by Gérald Genta in 1976. The new models, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 (Ref. IW328910) and the Ingenieur Automatic 35 (Ref. IW324909), are each limited to 1,150 pieces.
Both editions feature brushed silver-plated dials inspired by rare 1970s variants, paired with rhodium-plated hands and Super-LumiNova® markers. The 40mm version utilizes the IWC-manufactured 32111 caliber with a 120-hour power reserve, while the 35mm version features the Caliber 47110.
The release is supported by the Gérald Genta Heritage Association. Evelyne and Alexia Genta, the designer’s wife and daughter, have expressed approval of the collection, stating that Gérald Genta “would be incredibly happy to see with what respect IWC has preserved the DNA of his original design.”
