IWC Schaffhausen releases limited Ingenieur editions for 50th anniversary
IWC Schaffhausen is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Ingenieur SL, a luxury sports watch originally designed by Gérald Genta in 1976. To mark the milestone, the company is releasing two limited edition models: the Ingenieur Automatic 40 50th Anniversary (Reference IW328910) and the Ingenieur Automatic 35 50th Anniversary (Reference IW324909). Both versions are limited to 1,150 pieces each.
The 40mm version features the manufacture caliber 32111, which offers a 120-hour power reserve and an anti-magnetic soft iron inner case. The 35mm version utilizes the caliber 47110, providing a 42-hour power reserve and a sapphire crystal caseback. Both watches feature argenté-colored brushed dials inspired by rare historical variants of the original Ingenieur SL, with the signature lightning bolt logo replaced by the number 50.
The launch includes involvement from the Gérald Genta Heritage Association, founded by the designer's widow, Alexia Genta, and daughter, Evelyne Genta, to preserve his design legacy.
