IWMF documents 37 instances of Donald Trump attacking female journalists

The International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) has documented 37 instances where Donald Trump targeted female journalists with verbal attacks. According to Elisa Lees Muñoz, head of the IWMF, these incidents are not isolated but represent a broader tactic to intimidate women and reduce their presence in public debate.

Recent reports indicate that during a single week, reporters from NBC News, ABC News, and CNN received personal insults regarding their intelligence and professional capabilities. These attacks often occur when journalists pose questions on public policy or government decisions, effectively displacing substantive answers with personal disparagement.

Data from the IWMF shows that 21 of the recorded attacks occurred during 2020, during Trump's first presidential term. Specific insults reported include labeling journalists as ‘horrible’, ‘stupid’, or having a ‘low IQ’.
