Iwo community faces recurring floods in Osun State

Residents of the Power Line Area in Iwo, Osun State, are facing renewed hardship as heavy rainfall caused flooding that submerged homes and destroyed property. This incident marks a recurrence of a similar disaster that occurred in September 2025.

Despite previous directives from Governor Ademola Adeleke for the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) to assess the area and for the Ministry of Environment to expand local rivers, residents claim no significant improvements have been made. Community members report that inadequate drainage systems continue to overflow during heavy rains, making the area a perennial flood zone.
