Iwona Wieczorek disappearance: Investigators report breakthrough

Investigators from the 'Archiwum X' (Cold Case Division) have reported a breakthrough in the investigation into the disappearance of Iwona Wieczorek. Wieczorek, who was 19 years old at the time, vanished in July 2010 while returning from an event in Sopot near Reagan Park in Gdańsk.

Eryk Stasielak, head of the unit, stated that new evidence has emerged regarding the specific time and location where Wieczorek was in Reagan Park on the night of her disappearance. While the exact nature of this evidence—whether it be new surveillance footage or other forensic findings—has not been disclosed, it is noted that the information does not stem from witness testimony.

A friend of the missing woman, Katarzyna, shared details regarding a late-night SMS she received from Wieczorek that read, ‘Call me,’ which she did not answer at the time. She expressed her belief that the disappearance was likely not a random incident and involved someone known to the victim.
