IX Reggimento Alpini: Colonel Federico Petrocco takes command

Colonel Federico Petrocco has assumed command of the IX Reggimento Alpini in L’Aquila, succeeding Colonel Mario D’Angelo. The leadership transition was marked by an official meeting with the Prefect of L’Aquila, Vito Cusumano.

Colonel D’Angelo, who led the regiment through intense operational and training activities—including ‘Strade Sicure’ in Rome and support for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics—will transition to the role of Chief of Staff for the ‘Abruzzo Molise’ Army Military Command.

Colonel Petrocco, a native of L’Aquila with extensive experience in operational and staff roles within the Alpine component, previously served in the IX Reggimento Alpini and participated in international peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo. His mandate focuses on maintaining the regiment's operational readiness and training continuity.
