IX.br expands internet exchange infrastructure in Brazil
The IX.br initiative, led by NIC.br and CGI.br, has expanded its internet exchange infrastructure in Brazil. A new Internet Exchange Point (PTT) was activated in Macapá, Amapá, marking the 40th such point in the country. This expansion ensures that IX.br has a presence in all 26 Brazilian states and serves as the seventh point in the Northern region.
Additionally, Nicnet has operationalized a Point of Interconnection (PIX) at its edge data center in Cravinhos, São Paulo. Integrated with the IX.br Ribeirão Preto locality, this new infrastructure provides physical connection alternatives for internet service providers, public agencies, and research institutions. The Cravinhos site utilizes dual fiber optic routes to ensure network resilience and aims to serve networks located along the Anhanguera Highway corridor.
